The Struggle

Improving at racquetball seems so rough at times.
but actually progress is not a progressional climb.

Racquetball is crazy, off a level you can't seem to move,
and it often seems as if you'll never improve.

But remember that improvement is not straight to the top,
but setbacks and successes that go up and drop.

So when you are at the lowest of low hang in there-
you are ready to go! soon you'll be playing some decent ball.

So improve at racquetball, tighten the laces,
go out and practice the aces.

Practice the lobs, the z's and the skill,
that you will need to go for the kill.

Go for it-have some fun-and then beat'em,
and if you can't do that, call'em like you need'em!!!

Last Month's Poem...

The Heart of an Athlete
by Laura A. Kaplan

The heart of an athlete
Just can't be described
It's a passion, a hunger
A need to feel alive

It's a desire to be the best
And try with all one's might
It's a compassion and competition
It's the drive and the will to fight

It's the strongest killer instinct
To put all skills to the test
It's the need for a challenge
To rise above the rest

Its a push beyond the limits
And an ignorance of pain
It's a hurdle over obstacles
To focus on a gain

It's not about the score
Or the victory, or the fame
It's about the heart of the athlete
And the love of the game

This poem was brought to you by Meghan Guiriani, USA Junior Team

Previous Month's Poem

Oh the page is under construction
or so we can see
when will the poems appear
and what will they be
will they tell of forehands, or ceiling balls so crisp,
or will they tell of my last opponent,
the one with the lisp,
will they speak of killshots, cracks, or aces,
or tournaments in all the crazy places,
maybe just the things we know are left unsaid,
like why has this taken so long,
Coach W and internet Ed???

If you have a poem related to racquetball or otherwise, or perhaps an inspirational story...
feel free to submit it so we can all share it.
